Long-distance move from Missouri to Colorado

Damage to Everything!

I recently used this company for a move from Saint Louis, Missouri to Denver, Colorado having read all the great comments on the internet about them. My advice to you is never use this company, it has been the worst professional experience of my life. As you can imagine mostly all of my valuable items were damaged, the only items that did not sustain damage were the items I specifically packed into boxes and had them transport. I own three leather couches, all three sustained damage ( one of which actually wound up with a hole the size of a half dollar directly on the front of it. ) Now I understand damage is part of the process, which is why companies have insurance. I just received a phone call from the owner and operator of this business to submit a claim and his exact response was " I don't know how to handle this. What do you want from me?" Needless to say as a customer who paid good money for the company's service, I am absolutely shocked. My next course of action will be to contact a lawyer and to sue for thousands of dollars in damage done to my items. Also, the same parent company unloaded me in Denver. Two gentlemen who have been in the moving industry for 30+ years who stated that it was the worst load job they had ever seen in their professional experience. Every piece of wood I own was directly in contact with metal, which resulted in scratches on every piece I own. Not to mention only 4 of the 10 furniture pads I provided were used and the moving straps I bought specifically for the move weren't even used (they actually had not even been opened, the plastic was still on the package). I say again, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A SCAM AND TREAT PAYING CUSTOMERS EVEN WORSE. I WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. 0% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.

Long-distance move from Riverside, CA to Henderson, NV

Would definitely use this company again!

I scheduled movers using Elite Moving Labor for my move from Riverside, CA to Henderson, NV. Both sets of movers were professional, hard-working, and pleasant to do business with. They brought tools which was great and the unloaders even set my furniture up for me. The pricing was very good and booking was easy. I also saved money on my Penske truck rental which was nice. I would definitely use them again and have recommended them to friends and family already.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to New Jersey

Overall - Very Poor.

BEWARE of ELITE MOVING LABOR.  Movers/packers improperly loaded truck which resulted in substantial damage to furniture.  Mahogany dresser sustained a gouge as a result of a foot of another piece of furniture being placed on top.  Two white queen anne chairs were soiled by blue dye as movers did not cover properly with stretch wrap -- which was provided to them.  Also flatscreen TV, which was boxed and padded, was cracked.  Many other items damaged as well.  Damage estimate -- approximately $1,800.  This company insisted upon us purchasing stretch wrap from them .. 2,000 feet at a cost of $48.  They did not use all of the stretch wrap and then took it with them -- never wrapping the white chairs!  They insisted we rent 7 dozen blankets and provide them with cardboard and still they damaged our furniture.  Elite Moving Labor has denied any wrongdoing and has refused to have our furniture repaired.  Their affiliate company in Philadelphia unloaded the truck and their employees stated upon uploading that the furniture had been loaded improperly and that was why there was so much damage.  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.  See attached pictures of some of the damaged furniture. .

Long-distance move from Wisconsin to Minnesota

Highly disappointing.

I used movinglabor.com for a move recently to pack household items and load them onto a moving truck. They set us up with ritenowmovers. I contacted ritenowmovers before the job to get an estimation of time (which he quoted us 5-7 hours) and for them to bring all the needed moving boxes and supplies. The day arrives, and it was terrible. A crew of 3 was there for nearly 12 hours, and they packed at best 75% of the house. They ran out of supplies less than half way through the day. We asked them how much more they needed, and went to the store and bought more supplies than they asked for. They ran out of supplies again 4 more times, and had to go to the store to get more. We complained multiple times to ritenowmovers during the day, and we were assured the pace would pick up and things would be made right. Neither happened. We ending up spending much of the day packing ourselves. At the end of the day, the job was not finished. The moving truck was filled, but the packing was not done. It took 4 people an additional 4 hours the next day to pack.
After arriving at the destination and unpacking, we found that they had packed the kitchen table without removing the legs. They did not support the bottom of the table with anything, and put heavy boxes on top. I have moved 4 times previously, and every time the movers took off the table legs and packed the table properly. Of course we discovered a significant crack on the top of the table. There were a number of other items damaged that were not packed properly. We discovered that about 10 boxes that were packed were half full or less. There were items scattered around the moving truck and not packaged properly. The crew also took an expensive table lamp and wedged it between boxes in the moving truck rather than packing it in a box.
The owner of ritenowmovers gave us a discount the day of, but it nowhere near compensated for the time (despite promising significantly less time), the poor packing job that resulted in damaged items, and the additional hastle of having to finish an uncompleted job ourselves. I wrote a formal email to ritenowmovers with the complaints, and heard nothing for weeks. While waiting, I called movinglabor.com and submitted a formal complaint. The employee I dealt with said the right things at first, but then started to make excuses. I told him about the time, and he told me that the job could easily take 12 hours. He completely missed the point that we were given a 5-7 hour estimate, and it took at least 3 times that long, considering how much time we spent packing that day and the next. After not responding to a number of emails and phone calls, he gives me some legalize about how they can't be held responsible for damaged items unless they are reported while the movers were on site. Well, maybe we could have watched the movers more closely if we weren't spending all our time packing and going to the store and getting packing supplies for them. The issue is not resolved with movinglabor.com yet, but I do not feel like my complaint was taken seriously enough, and as far as I am aware of, has amounted to anything.
As far as my interactions with ritenowmovers, I had sent a well thought out email, complete with photos, that overviewed the issues we had. After a number of weeks, we got a response that had a photo of the table in the moving truck with the heavy boxes on it, saying 'Here was how your table was packed. No damages were caused by my crew.' If he would have read the email and looked at the photos, he would have seen that the crack was on top of the table, and could not been seen from the photo. He did not respond to all the other complaints I had in the email. I replied several times to this email, and still haven't heard a word from him. He told me the day of that he wanted to make it right, but his actions show that this wasn't really meant.

Official company response

We are sorry that you had an unfortunate experience with Rite Now Movers, the company that serviced you. MovingLabor.com is an online open marketplace that provides Customers with live quotes from independently owned moving companies for labor-only services, so that they can make online reservations easily. We are purely a marketplace platform, so once the reservation is accepted by the servicing moving company, in this case Rite Now Movers, it is that moving company's responsibility to communicate and service the customer as scheduled. After the job was accepted, Rite Now Movers contacted the Customer to discuss further packing details, which MovingLabor.com had no part in. The Customer reserved 3 movers for 5 hours through us, so if a different amount of time was agreed upon, it was outside of the MovingLabor.com contract, and we were never notified. Per our contract, the movers are also only required to stay for the minimum hours booked by the Customer, but in this case the movers stayed almost double the time to try to help the Customer complete the job. Rite Now Movers upholds a 4.3 star rating with us out of over 80 jobs, working with us since 2016. To address the damage concerns: this Customer called in about damages 3 weeks after Rite Now Movers serviced them because the damages occurred during transit. Often Customers that choose Labor-Only movers over a Full Service moving company don't understand that liability for damages are only for items dropped or damaged ON SITE by the movers, it does NOT cover any damages that occur during transit or after the movers depart, since the movers would no longer be in possession of those items at those times. We have no idea if the truck crashed, went over a lot of potholes, if the items were rearranged from how the movers loaded them, etc.. therefore we can not prove liability. Labor-only is cheaper for the Customer because of this, and why many opt for labor-only over full-service companies. If damages are not reported BEFORE the movers leave, then liability for the damage claims ends. This is all stated on the work orders and throughout our website: https://www.movinglabor.com/damage. As I noted previously, once the servicing company accepts a job, it is their responsibility to see it through and handle collecting payment and any damage claims if there are any, it is not MovingLabor.com's responsibility. We are here to bridge communication, which we continued to try to do for this Customer, but our efforts were not appreciated because this Customer wasn't happy with the result of Rite Now Movers denying the damage claims since all of the damages occured during transit, and they were notified a nearly month after they serviced the Customer. Again, we're sorry this Customer had a bad experience. We encourage future Customers to be sure they read through the agreement and all the details so that they have reasonable expectations of the services and aren't left with any surprises. We try to be transparent with all of the policies listed throughout our website and paperwork brought on site, but sometimes things can get overlooked by the Customer.

Cancellation Fee.

We hired All Needs Covered through MovingLabor to help move my terminally ill sister-in-law from a house to an apartment. Due to a last minute flare up of her illness, we had to delay the move and needed to cancel the movers with less than 24 hours notice. We called the moving company and explained the situation, of which they were very sympathetic and understanding and willing to consider waiving any cancellation fee. In any case, their full cancellation fee on their proforma invoice was stated as 50% of our moving costs or about $85. When we called them back to confirm the cancellation, they indicated we needed to call MovingLabor to get this done. When we contacted MovingLabor, they were insistent on charging us a $150 cancellation fee plus the $49 referral fee irregardless of why we were cancelling. Accordingly, MovingLabor made a $199 profit from my sister-in-laws terminal illness, while the actual movers were willing to make a concession due to the situation.

I have used MovingLabor several times before with good success, but based on this latest situation, will never use them again or refer them to anyone else.

Official company response

We are sorry to hear about this customers experience with Movinglabor.com.  Enforcing our cancellation policy is the one job we dislike to do, because no one comes out ahead.  However, in order for us to keep the quality of movers we offer on our site, we need policies like this in place to hold all parties accountable in the event of a last minute cancellation.  Moving labor by nature is a volume type business.  The movers make their money the more jobs they get to.  It's a seasonal business with 80% of our customer base hiring movers between the months of March-September.  When a customer cancels last minute within 24 hours, it leaves the movers with next to no time to fill that spot.  As a result it usually comes out to loss of work for the movers.  No work means no pay.  Our cancellation policy applies to all customers regardless of their reason for cancelling.  No matter what the reason, it's loss of work for the movers.  This particular customer called the movers the morning of, to let them know she needed to postpone the move for an indefinite amount of time.  Since the customer called the morning of the move, it falls within our 24 hour cancellation period which states $50 cancellation fee and $150 fee that goes to the movers for loss of work.  We called the Project Manager to confirm that he wanted us to charge the $150 fee, which he did.  When we called the customer back to inform her that the fee was being applied, she then stated "if the movers insist on charging her, she wants to reverse her cancellation and have the movers come out and provide the service".  By the time we got a hold of the Project Manager a few hours later, he informed us that he had already dispatched his movers to other jobs to help out his other crews. He did not know the customer was going to reverse her request to cancel, especially since she called him directly to cancel.  We called back the customer to inform her it would have to be another day of service as the movers are no longer available. She stated to us that she'll have to "call us later to reschedule because she's in the middle of moving her sister".  We still have the customer in our reschedule pending status and if she were to reschedule the $50 cancellation fee would be waived.  Any fees associated with cancellations are always attached to our confirmation emails and are publicly viewable on our website for our current and future customers to see. .

Unpacking a 16' POD.

The movers did a very good job unpacking the POD and putting everything where we asked. They were so very timely in their arrival and finished on schedule. The price was very reasonable for the services needed and I would use the services again if needed. They stacked boxes quickly so it was hard to determine what rooms they were supposed to go in but my family was able to easily move these. All furniture was handled appropriately and safely.

Great Service, Competitive Pricing.

I hired Elite Movers to move an entertainment center from the second floor to the first floor of our townhouse.  The unit is so large it had to go from our deck to the neighbor's deck and down their deck stairs.  The planned arrival window was 4-6 PM.  At 4:30 PM I received calls from both Elite Movers and the actual moving guys saying they were stuck in traffic near Tyson's Corner, VA, (a hub of traffic nightmares in DC) and would be arriving as soon as possible.  I greatly appreciated being kept abreast of their travel status.  They arrived around 5:30 PM and the three workers made short work of the move.  They were friendly and extremely professional, and took extra precautions to ensure both the entertainment center and surrounding areas were not damaged.  They came prepared, and I was impressed.  It was clear they took their work seriously, and I would DEFINITELY use them again.  It is so difficult to get reliable service in the DC area at a reasonable price.  These guys fit the bill.  Kudos to Elite Movers.

Scam Company !

Do not use this company for any reason! They broke our bedroom cabinet 30 days ago. The mover just dropped in and broke the corner. It is a very large cabinet with two pieces and they have still yet to return my calls or requests to fix our furniture. Even though they fully charged us at the time. They are very unprofessional and very unconcern with our damages. Beware! They are a scam and use outside unprofessional to come in your home and move your belongings! We are contacting an attorney to get this handled now and it will cost us more money. On top of our damages, we have pictures if anyone needs them and receipts for their services paid.

Should have just sold it ALL.

Hired elite to load an ABF U-Pack trailer..took them twice as long as quoted which was ridiculous as we were quoted for a 3 bedroom house and had hardly any furniture, mostly boxes. We are missing a box marked 'Crystal' that contained about $3000 worth of collectible crystal, wonder where THAT went? The did a poor job at wrapping furniture not to mention they loaded ALL the furniture together which meant when the truck shifted, it all got damaged. They loaded boxes marked 'fragile' under boxes marked 'heavy' and I'm still sorting out all that damage. The icing on the cake is discovering they fed a power cord in a 200 lb desk into the back of the desk which was shoved too close to the wall and I had to dismantle half of the thing to fix it. This piece of furniture is solid wood..who in their right mind feeds a power cord into a 2" hole in the back of a solid box? Idiots. Had I known there would be this much damage, I'd have sold all my furniture and just rented a U-Haul. I've paid to load, haul and unload furniture I now have to pay to dispose of and then pay to replace. Of course, they won't even take our phone calls and the 'insurance' for damage doesn't cover jack. Go with a real company and pay the extra cash is you can..this was NOT worth it.
